Humans rely too much upon software and other shortcuts that shortchange their own need to think and master skills.
In this rapidly changing era of automation, artificial intelligence, and global shifts in job markets, both students and professionals need guidance for academics and careers. They also need the ability to transition into other fields when necessary. Different types of mountains and conditions require different types of knowledge, skill, and expert wisdom. In addition to classes about success for students and professionals, Veritas Global Development attracts and develops a cadre of experts who can be crucial for their success: mentors, coaches, and tutors. Veritas Global Development first teaches, trains, and evaluates these mentors, coaches, and tutors about relevant and crucial topics such as neuroscience, psychology, and the paradigms of success and well-being before giving them any student or professional clients to assist.
"Socrates used to help people with honorable ambitions by making them apply themselves to the objects of those ambitions... By using arguments... Socrates persuaded his friend to go and take lessons." Xenophon, Memorabilia III (translated by Hugh Tredennick, Dean at the University of London)
The Need for Effective Evidence-Based Human Experts
Another problem for students and professionals is that very few guidance counselors and career counselors work with a family team, teach about the brain, keep up with scientific research, and track changes in specific fields. Most high schools and universities provide little advice for students. Regardless, the applications for schools and jobs are significant tasks that require enormous amounts of individual guidance and teamwork. Understandably, most students and professionals get overwhelmed and feel forlorn. As a result, they cannot apply for schools, scholarships, and jobs in the best of ways.
In answer to this problem, Veritas Global Development provides lectures and gathers the best experts for success to help mentor, tutor, and coach. Veritas Global Development evaluates and teaches these mentors, tutors, and coaches about neuroscience, psychology, and the paradigms of success before giving them any student clients or professional clients.
"My dear Crito, don't you realize that in every walk of life second-rate practitioners, who are worse than useless, outnumber the competent ones, who are beyond value?" The words of Socrates in Plato's Euthydemus (translated by Robin Waterfield, an editor at Penguin Books)
Training for Experts
Similar to psychotherapists and professional athletic coaches, we believe that experts for success (tutors, mentors, and coaches) should all be 1. trained very well; 2. respected by their clients; 3. respectable; 4. available regularly; and 5. compensated well financially by their clients for their time.
Any aspiring tutor, mentor, or coach can gain more knowledge and training electronically through our E-Veritas Lyceum. (Note that our Lyceum is named after Aristotle's famous "peripatetic" school in Athens where he walked around engaging his students in discussions. Previously, Socrates had also engaged his students under the colonnades of the Lyceum.)
Beyond the important lectures and webinars we have on-line, Veritas Global Development wants the best possible tutors, mentors, and coaches available for our students and professionals who need assistance around the world. For tutors, mentors, and coaches who would like a continuous feed of clients (students or professionals anywhere along the career ladder) from Veritas Global Development, they must first complete the E-Veritas Lyceum training that we offer. Then they must attend one of our Veritas Lyceum training conferences in person for mock sessions and earn their certification.
Tutors, mentors, and coaches who are given clients will be monitored on-line for feedback, competence, and quality assurance. To help their client, tutors, mentors, and coaches will confidentially share their notes with each other so that they can all identify strengths, weaknesses, progress, etc. for their shared client.
"Why is it that experts primarily teach techniques to young professionals while ignoring the values that have sustained the quests of so many creative geniuses?" Professor Howard Gardner, Professor William Damon, and Professor Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Good Work

"'It was not easy to reject ordinary advice, and personal reservations counted for little when the advice came from great eminences. 'Defer to them; they will cause you no reproaches,' a wise man of old [Lao Tzu of China] once said." Lady Murasaki Shikibu, The Tale of Genji
